How do you change the light bulbs of a 850 for the climate ctrl and radio?

I know how to do it on the dash (and done it to change the color to a blue/green color), and I wanna match it on the other parts too.

Wow! Those blue guages look sweet! How hard was that to change?

Prospero is the expert here on changing to blue LED's, I hope he rings in.

it was infact quite hard, pretty impossible to do if you're by yourself.

you can go read the steps for removing the dash cover from volvospeed.com

However since you can only remove the left side, you have to bend the whole cover upwards very hard to remove the rather big speedometer unit.

Get someone to hold up the cover while you try to squeeze the unit out.

Changing the lights were a snap, however you should try testing the lights for brightness and color before putting them back in if you could, cuz you really don't wanna do it again (like me) unless you like touching hard edged plastics and bending your dash cover til they break

hehe, I figured out how to take all those stuff out now, easier than taking the speedo out if you ask me.

btw is it possible for you to send me some "condoms" for the lights?

Hey all, if you are interested in going to the next level and never playing with relamping ever again...let me know. It's not cheap but it is worth it.

Yes sir I am interested
especially if the LEDs are brighter than my stupid blue bulbs which I only rate as "just enough light"

Okay...cool then. So, tell me, are you any good with a soldering iron?

I can walk you through the job, but before we start...this mod is going to make it impossible to go back to OEM lamps. There will be cutting wires and glue involved.

Please let me know how serious you are and everything you want to have BLUE or any-other colored LED.

hmmm
on second thought, if blue leds costs so much and I can't go back to regular bulbs, maybe I'll just leave it alone.

It would be nice but not essential to have my bulbs replaced.

Thanks alot for your info tho!

No problem. Seems that I scare most people away from the project once they see how much it will take.

Feel free to look me up in the future if you need any more info.

Cheers
Prospero
