Don't get too excited, I just want to know if it's even possible. I'm sick of looking at that ugly green color. I'd like to have other options (blue, red, etc.). What kind of work would this take?

Re: Changing interior guage cluster/radio/AC lighting (Revolve40)

I like the green. But changing the color of the interior is possible. I was thinking of changing it to a more vibrant green as the green in our cars is a pansy green...
It would be a lot of work for something most people won't even notice, but I would totally do it if I had the time! Do it!

Re: Changing interior guage cluster/radio/AC lighting (carreragt7)

I would love the green if it were more vibrant, but it's a little dull. I'm worried that I would go to all the trouble and then the radio would be unchangeable. Hmm...

I stuck transparent green vinyl over the display to make it more vibrant. Pretty easy fix. As far as the controls that is the hardest part...

IIRC every button in the center stack and behind the gauges are controlled by individual lights ( or clusters) that can easily be replaced to shine a different color. Just as long as you feel comfortable enough to pull the car apart, then you should be able to change out the color (minus the screen as mentioned before) to any color you'd like. I might also add that I love the green in my S40. Every time I drive it late at night, it brings back good memories of the 94 940T that was my first car

I don't like the green so much... would prefer a really bright white.
I think I'm just too lazy to do all that work and change every single LED behind a button... so I'll leave it as it is.

Re: (crossie)

i love the green! It's soothing.
My girlfriend has an Audi A4 and I feel like I'm in a film developing darkroom when I ride with her at night. All the buttons and all the reddddd.

I would love to have red, reminds me of the glow of the avionics when flying at night. Not to mention red reduces eyestrain and allows you to see better if it is very dark outside

172s, Cubs, Bonanzas, Senecas lately, and a Meridian soon. You? Most fun I think I've had was flying a DHC2 floater for a couple hours once

Yo Jason. A guy where I work used to be a pilot and flew Lears for a long time. He showed me some sick videos of those and other jets he flew. Makes me wanna get my pilots license and have millions to blow on a super nice jet, lol.

It's all LED, so

Quote, originally posted by Ruslan Shevchuk »

blown fuse

You can change all the lights to anything you want. I estimate there's 40-50 SMD LEDs in the center stack, another 50 or so in the DIM, 12-14 in the DDM, 4 in the PDM and 2 in the RDMs, plus the lock buttons have one or two I assume. Then there's a handful in the headlight switch and some in the overheads.
150 SMD LEDs of just about any color can be had for about $40
http://search.digikey.com/scri...20LED

Hm. Forgot about this. So AJ, what exactly did you use on your ICM display?

I had a transparent green Oracal Vinyl on it, but I took it off a while back when I was working on another project. Really easy to do, just forgot to redo it.
