my CD player took a dump on me the other day. It keeps reading error 2 and 3. Its never done this before. I cant get it to work again. It froze on me in eject mode. For those of you who dont understand, its stuck out! I have to crank my neck to see what radio station im listening to. how do I fix it? has anyone had a similar problem.
Im going to try to disconnect the battery and see if that will do anything. If not, im going to have to get an MP3 player.
Its the three disc changer with the knobs on either side. I dont remember which one specifically. I just looked in my volvo book today too.
anyway, a little help please?

Re: CD ERROR (Jnell20)

The 3 disc changer is a pile of junk. I never use mine for CD`s since it only works once in a blue moon. A while back I had to take the unit apart when it inadvertently pulled in two discs at once and took a crap. You`re better off just getting the 6 disc changer in the trunk. I love mine, it`s bullet proof.

If it's the original one from your '98 then you have an SC-900 unit. These were pretty finicky. If you get the chance, pick up an SC-901. They look the same but have a number of the bugs worked out - they still don't play burned CDs particularly well but it's a much better unit overall.
You can also get your headunit repaired by Alpine (the original manufacturer) here:
Alpine Electronics Of America
40 Boroline Rd
Allendale, NJ 07401
(201) 316-8110
(800) 874-8858 Press [0] for operator.
Re: CD ERROR (Jnell20)

Yes mine has done this before both the error and getting stuck i have 1999 v70 r
The code is probably a security code the cd player powers off to secure the car the code should either be in your manual or the dealer should have it,
Having to enter the code is sometimes necessary after the battery is removed or you have a loose battery connection ( mine has done this )
You should try this first
and once you get power to it and the radio works , if the cd tray is still stuck you must push the eject buttom many time and if still doesnt work slightly put pressure on the cd drive thing and push eject but do the code thing first
hope this helps
