It's been happening far too frequently lately and id like to have it sorted before I fry my ECU or something. Exactly as the title says, sometimes when I go to start my S40 the car shuts completely off and the key gets stuck in the ignition. I have to disconnect the battery and reconnect to sort it out. Has anyone got a solution for this and/or experienced this? Thanks all!

Yes this is a common problem

Have your battery tested you may need a new one

Check your +\- terminal connections, make sure there's not loose or corroded.

Battery is brand new, terminals are clean as can be. The other posts I see about keys being stuck don't seem to mention the car's electrical cutting out completely... :(
What size of battery does it have an oem or the bigger one?

Ya there has been a few cases, my own account as well where the power cuts out completely to where you can't even take it out of park or remove the key until you mess with the battery or terminals.

As stated above check your grounds too and even if the batteries brand new you wanna have it checked regardless to eliminate the possibility of a bad battery.

Any codes at all or strange ticking sounds ?
