I haven't heard back from my dealer (no surprise), but I haven't heard from customs yet either, and the car was dropped off two days ago. Will they call me or mail me? Or must I contact them?

This is a real PITA.

Settle down a bit. Just because it hit the shore doesn't mean that it gets shipped the same day (or even next day). I am sure that there's some inspection process before it's released for shipping.

Re: Car at port in customs (MagoonR)

I guess I am just venting my frustration about Stadel

Honestly, I have had better service from a used car dealer

OK...Just got off the phone with Volvo OSD. They told me the car was dropped on Monday, and its already completed its first inspection, and that I should call the port to make arrangements.

So...since I am doing a lot of this work, do I get a commission?! J/K

Sometimes, there are delays that are completely outside of your control (or Volvo's). When our car arrived, it (plus several hundred other cars) sat on Port Hueneme for 2+ weeks because HLS had changed the required customs forms and the agent had to rework all the forms (ours as well as the forms for all the other cars!).

Once it clears customs, the car has to be scheduled on a carrier truck. That also takes time.

You will have your car within the next couple of weeks. Have patience.

YOU should call the port to...make arrangements?
Such as???

There is nothing you can do...you will have to be patient a few more days so that your car can go through Customs, EPA certification, port processing, etc. before it gets released to Fleet Cars (car carrier) that will transport it to East Petersburg.

Yannis, wrong.
By calling ahead, I didn't have to wait for the customs papers to show up at my house. I was able to make payment immediately so that when the customs papers are ready, my car can be shipped without delay

Payment? What payment are you refering to. Both time we did OSD our car arrived before our customs papers arrived at our home. Granted it was only 1 day but still.

That helps! I was thinking what payment, what customs, why should I bother? Shouldn't Volvo take care of that?
