So... It seems all I ever post here is problems and its getting a little old. So the new one is my car alarm keeps going off. It's really quite so from inside I don't even hear it unless the windows are open. The only way I know is either someone telling me its going off or when I get in the car it says alarm triggered. It seems to do it for no apparent reason. I thought I remembered reading a thread a while back that talked about some sort of back up battery that goes bad? I can't seem to find the thread now though. Any help would be much appreciated as I've completely stopped using the alarm. I lock the doors with the key blade to avoid further false alarms. It's an 05 s40 awd 6spd. Thanks in advance!

I know the siren has a battery in it (not the battery in the engine compartment) and the siren is located next the the wiper motor. I have not accessed my but here are two links on installing the siren and it will help you located the siren.

From the link EngTech provided and the pictures in the installation instructions, they look the same. I also found a link indicating the batteries are nicads with a life span of about 8 years. I know its not much info, but maybe it will help.
