This story starts kinda sad: my trusty 2003 Volvo S40 with 238,135 miles on it died on the highway. My engine seized up, they said, and recommended buying a new car, rather than trying to fix it.

While I didn't like buying a car from this position, where I had no choice, I did find the car with everything I was hoping for:

2012 Volvo S60 T5 with BLIS, Climate package, Premium Package, Technology Package, and MultiMedia Package. Chrome tailpipes, and wood. Color: Sapphire Black with Beachwood interior.

Now that I'm over the loss of my trusty S40 (may she rust in peace), I am looking forward to picking up my S60 on Saturday!

Anything I should know? Anything I should do with/to the car immediately?

Thanks,

Toine

Unknown at the moment. My S40 was due for service the day after it died :( My oil level was fine, and at the miles I drive per month, it was no more than 3-4 months old.

Since you're a high mileage driver, I would definitely recommend the tempa-spare.

Wish I cold wait for OSD, but I can't. Will definitely plan it when we replace my wife's XC90.

I'll have to look into the tempa-spare. Can I buy that after the fact?

Sorry about the loss of your trusty S40, but congratulations on the purchase of your new S60. You bought almost an identical car to mine (I have Ember Black. front facing camera, and no chrome tailpipes). The biggest thing I did was spend time going through all the menus and looking at all the settings. I think Sensus can be confusing at first, but if you play a bit with it you can really get the hang of it and understand its logic. My favorite feature is the alert when my favorite song is playing on SiriusXM.

I wanted tech package, and needed a car kinda quickly. I had not much choice in packages. I don't believe PCC is a dealer installed option, right?

I think there are so many sensors and receivers embedded in the vehicle that dealer installation would not be feasible. If your car doesn't have PCC (like mine) you are most likely SOL. Then again ever time I grab the key to open the door and look at the Volvo logo it makes me smile, so I really don't miss PCC (at least at the moment).

Picked up my car yesterday. What a beauty. The beachwood interior is gorgeous, the urbane wood looks classy. And even though black was my least favorite color, the Black sapphire looks fantastic.

Can't wait to start driving it for my daily 120 miles commute!

Unfortunately, they did not. Might pick it up later. Somewhat cash poor right now, so I'm going to rely on AAA and Volvo Roadside for a bit.
