At Round 4 of the NORBA National Series this past weekend, cross-country racers from the Volvo/Cannondale and SoBe/HeadShok teams mixed it up with some of the other top athletes in the sport.

In good form after Durango's X-C World Cup last week, Volvo/Cannondale's Kashi Leuchs took the early lead and put 25 seconds on Roland Green and Ryder Hesjedal in the men's X-C race. The pace was fast and furious and even though Kashi put in one of his best efforts on Mammoth's high altitude course, Green was not to be denied! It took him three laps out of five, and a lot of hard work to reel Kashi in, but in the end he took the lead and finished 1 minute and 15 seconds ahead of Hesjedal and third-place finisher Kashi Leuchs. Volvo/Cannondale's top finisher in the women's race was Carmen D'Aluisio in 16th.

In the Short Track event, Roland Green was on a roll and was obviously the most recovered of the group as he quickly went into time trial mode. He finished on top with two-thirds of a lap lead on the rest of the field! It was a mini field sprint with Bart Brentjens, Jeremy Horgan Kobelski, Pavel Cherkasov, and Seamus McGrath rounding out the top five. Kashi Leuchs found himself behind a crash involving Ryder Hesjesdal and Chris Sheppard. He managed to stay upright, but lost valuable time placing 11th.

In the women's Short Track, Shonny Vandlandingham of SoBe/Headshock earned herself a place on the podium in 5th place behind winner Alison Dunlap. Former SoBe/HeadShok rider JImena Florit was second, while Ruthie Matthes and Audrey Augustin took third and fourth, respectively. Carmen D'Aluisio of the Volvo/Cannondale Team finished 11th, but not without repeated efforts to bridge the gap.
