Did some searching. I recently gave away a few spare M56's I had lying around and now my M56 in my 2001 V70 T5 is making some noise...doh.

I've got a M66 from FWD C30 lying here...wondering if I can drop it in.

I believe you might need a shifter from a P2 with an m66 because the cables are reversed or something? But it fits in there like stock, and the bolt patterns are all the same from everything I've read.

I just put M66AWD in 2002 T5. Little more than just a drop in. You will need M66 AWD rear transmission mount bracket, passenger side driveshaft, and the shifter with the shifter cables. Then the wire harness that is routed around the M56 will need to be routed in such a way that does not interfere with the shifter. Which is not hard to do. Glück.
