...trigger an SRS fault code? I had my local stereo guy swap out the driver's side door panel in my '06 S60 AWD while he was running my iMIV/iPhone cable up to the front of the car and he apparently set off a code that says "SRS-Airbag Service Urgent". He tried to cover by having the local car shop down the block clear the code but he couldn't (which I could have told him).
I don't think there are any airbags in or near the door so I wonder how he could have tripped this code? He was behind the HU so maybe something back there? I guess he should have had the sense to disconnect the battery first
I'm just trying to figure out if I need to make him pay to clear the code at the dealer!
Thanks!

Re: Can changing a door panel... (landsmarra)

Yes if he disconnected the climate control he tripped the srs light. It cost anywhere from 100-125 to clear the code at the dealer so you better tell him to get his wallet out. Also most audio guys have the know how to disconnect the battery on any car. So the guy was obviously a novice.

Thanks for the info! If I'm going to the dealer anyway to get a software download, will that clear the code or am I still gonna have to fork over extra to do that? Do I mention to the dealer that the code was probably tripped by some fiddling with the radio/climate control (hoping he'll have mercy on me) or do I just play dumb?
Can I also assume clearing the code isn't as simple as disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery, waiting 5 minutes, then reconnect hoping the code will clear if the computer no longer senses a problem?
Thanks!!
