One morning came to my 2009 XC90 AWD 6 cylinder. Had been sitting 2 or 3 days. No power: no crank, not enough to light up parking lights. Voltage in engine room: 4V. Charged. At end, 12.84V. All cells showed gravities in the "needs charge" range; all cells equal gravity.

Same voltage and gravities 24 hours later. No evident discharge of battery. Reason for dead battery is not clear.

Why do specific gravities show need for charge when measured voltage is 12.8? Is this battery reaching the end of life?

Machine is always garaged at home. 61,600 miles. Now 36 months old. Santa Fe, NM.

Thanks for ideas.
