It was a sweet weekend at California Speedway. Both I and Cloaked tracked our cars. Actually Cloaked tracked 2 cars at this event. I think I have the car set up pretty well now. I still need to work on the brakes and get rid of the crappy stock tires. I ran a full tank of 100 octane fuel at this event.
The only trouble I had that day was a 350ZX that I lapped. He came back on me in aggression, then spun the car out in front of me as he re-passed. I had to down shift real quick and break hard. The high rpm caused me to blow part of the intake tube. I knew it right away as I saw smoke come out of the Evolve hood grill. I ran a few more laps before exiting and calling it a day for the race.
Few things I learned this weekend is the S2000’s rule the track and also, the Pontiac GTO is the slow dog out there as I lapped him twice in one round. The fixed up G35’s were extremely fast. Me and Cloaked were passing the GTO in the front straight away when the G35 decided to cut thru traffic and pass us all. It really surprised both of us.
They had some 600hp+ cars in the advance class, but the NASCARS that were running the outer ring of the track were the real 600+ stars. It was a blast to be mingling together in one area…even if we were on separate tracks.
The best part of event has to be all the people who kind of looked at us funny for bringing Volvos. One of the promoters even asked if we were starting a club or sorts. By the Second round, people started checking out the car. During the third round, I lapped quite a few cars and even an old Porsche 911. I could see the croud stare at me as I came around him...and then I saw them in my rear view mirror stare as I passed him. I had a lot of people staring at the car in the pits after that. Big smile. Even had a guy driving a Corvette come over and check out the car.
I’ll let the photos take over from here.

However that quickly disappeared by round three when everyone was trying to take everyone out anywhere on the track. Some with out point-by. Like the G35 that went thru me, Cloaked(riding shot gun) and the 911...I had the point-by around the 911, but the G35 decided to pass us all with out any point-by. It was right inbetween the 2 cars. We got talk to at the download season, but round 4 was a little worse.
Advanced Lvl was still on the point-by rule, but they were not limited to straight's and could do it anywhere they wanted.

Looks like it was a ball! I see that the R's and the BMW taped up the headlights, is that a rule or you trying to protect them? I didn't see any of the others doing it.

It's optional, but it's to protect you headlights if someone spins out in front of you and the next guy kicks it up into your headlights. Here's a picture of my first lap. No tape...and blacked flaged for having the moonroof open.

They were changing their brake pads after each round. A little too much for me, but the speeds they cranked around the track were 'A' Class.

They ended up in the grass...luckly for them there was plenty of it. I let a lot of people pass me on the first round, but cloaked rode shot gun with me on the second round and straighten me out on a few areas. Few people got by me in the third round and I began passing a lot of others.
I never passed until I got the point-by from the car in front of me... which my times suffered when I got behind the GTO and had to wait for officials to flag him, but I got to drive the car home which really counts.
Little Note:never did the spedemon rule of turning the DTSC completly off...so no spin outs like at the Nurburgring

Nice pics. Glad to hear you had a great time. Regarding fixed up G35's or Nissan Z's, they are quite fast especially with twin turbo setup. It will blow by the R on the straights...

The gallery of Watkins Glin looks awesome. Regarding the 350Z and the G35, well I was looking at VRT's site today to see what the guy actually had that just flew by me. They have some pretty impressive video's I dragged over. Looks like there is no hope for anyone against these guys.
This shows the track were at last sunday
http://violentracing.com/Videos/new3_06.htm
I love this one. They post text across the screen that "Your car will pass a (Insert Car Here)" everytime they pass someone. It's pretty much everyone. They even say It will pass a M3 or M5 several times on this video.
http://www.violentracing.com/Videos/new11_2005.htm
