I just took my 2006 S60R (no mods) for smog test at test only station; they said I should take it to a "more Volvo savvy" shop because they couldn't make the rpm's stay at 2500. I had the evap system pump replaced in Feb. 2012. Was it the smog test station, or does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Dumb question but how could they not keep it at 2500 rpm's? Sorry No emissions in Florida for a long long time and I only smoged my car once over 10 years ago.

This is quite common iirc. Do a google search on smog test.

My question too; when I drive it stays at a certain rpm unless i accel or decel, right? So I checked it out on the way home; 40 mph, 1500 rpm, constant. Then I pulled over, put it in park, and tried to keep 2500. I could keep it at 2300. 2500 it wanted to bounce between 2300 and 2600.

This is a common problem. I went to a few shops before I got mine smoged. Yes they will not hold 2500 in park or neutral .
