Looks like a hartop 2+2 convertible will be added to our garage within the next year which pretty much limits it to the C70 or E93. I am personally leaning to the E93 335i beacues of the power and clasic BMW handling. The misses is leaning towards the C70 because of the styling but I still question the interior. I would love to hear some input from current C70 owners; strengths weaknesses.
Thanks,

Re: C70 or E93? (ShifterKart)

Since I haven't gotten my C70 yet, I can't comment on the reliablity issue, etc. However, since you care about the power and handling, I will suggest you go for an E93. After all, this is not a field that Volvo (or most of other manufacturers) can compete with BMW. As for the styling, it's very subjective so I have no comment here (and you can easily guess what my answer might be). Only one thing about the interior: I know the interior looks like the S40's, but, believe me, it feels quite different in real ones. Visit your local dealer and you will know what I mean. Good luck!

The E93 styling is the best looking of all the current "Bangled" designs.

Re: (Johann)

Thanks for the inputs and keep them coming. We went to the Volvo dealer last night and took a C70 for a test drive.

We both love the exterior styling
We are both neutral on the handling, not bad but not great
She likes the interior styling, I do not (could live with black)
She said the engine is "peppy", I say adequate

This will be her car until we have children then she will take my X5 and I will get either the C70 or E93. Of course we will wait till we can test drive an E93 335 to make that decision. Are there any plans at Volvo for a C70R or a more aggressively tuned C70? It seems with a $10K difference in price there is room for a sporty version to compete with teh 335?
Thanks again

Volvo will not compete with BMW because that is not the brand's identity. At $45K-$50K, the C70 is already pushing the limits of what a Volvo consumer would spend. IMO, a sticker price anywhere near a BMW (without incentives of course) would result in a lost sale for Volvo.
Just my .02.

I'd have to go with the E93 335i. I like the Volvo, but by all accounts, it's not about performance. The E93 will have performance and luxury.

Re: (Kirb)

Just a thought.......have you considerd the Audi S4 cabriolet. I believe the #'s are similar as the BMW plus you get quattro.
or next year they replace it with the A5 cabriolet
http://www.fourtitude.com/gall...%20EU#
http://www.germancarblog.com/2....html

Re: (k2volvo)

We did consider the S4 Cabrio and I personally preferred the S4 over the current 330i. The deal breaker was the lack of a hardtop, hence we wait until next spring to drive a 335i before a decision is made.

I'm not 100% sure, But I thought I read somewhere the new A5 cabriolet will be a hardtop. Good Luck.

External body trim peices falling off, bad rattles coming from the back seat, electrical sterio issues, A/C ticking sound when first turned on at tire pressure sensor going bad twice. To me this is completely unaccpetable on a $44K car with less than 3K miles on it. I'm going to ditch this POS next summer after it a year old. These issues are happening to others (even on this forum) and this is my 3rd and last BMW. I'd be concerned about the quality of the new E93 convertible.

It seems if you want few problems you have to go with a Lexus.

I share a concern for the reliability of both vehicles folding hardtop.
