http://www.autoblog.com/2006/0...aked/
According to Autoblog Spanish, Volvo had originally planned on releasing official details and photos of the C30 hatchback on July 25th, but you know how the internet works...
We did a double take at first seeing these pics of the production version of the C30 hatchback that first debuted as the C30 Concept at the 2006 Detroit auto show. The production version and the concept on which it's based vary little in appearance, right down to their fetching double-spoked wheels.
The front end is the typical Volvo fare found on the S40 and V50, and the rear reveals the same hatch found on the concept that is inspired by the legendary P1800 ES. The only changes of note are a new bumper out back that adds reflectors at the corners and more traditional round exhaust tips instead of the concept's triangular ones.
Hopefully Volvo will be forthcoming with more info on the C30 now that the cat's out of the bag.
Hmmmmmm. I loved the concept, I am glad they are making it just wondering what the specs will be.

I have three wishes...
1. A low cost, high mpg model.
2. A high pwer, AWD model
3. Extremely careful quality control.
Depending on my personal situation, I will likely be looking for a relatively inexpensive gas sipper next year-and I sure hope it can be a C30. I love the S40-but even in simplest form it is a hungry little bugger.

I'd be surprised if it doesn't have more side trim in production. What Volvo doesn't have side guard trim?
Also I agree with the post about economy. There'd be no competition for Volvo there; and it's a huge untapped market of car buyers who are currently forced to sacrifice style to get economy.
Cute little bugger, but if Volvo continues to screw things up as they have been lately, they will surely put the S40 seat in this car which is hard as a rock and throughly uncomfortable.
(They managed to do something right though and put better, softer foam on/under the same seat in the new C70 and they are VERY comfortable)

It is cute but stylish. I don't know if I would drive it unless they threw in a true AWD system (which we know won't happen) and an engine that can produce. It would be great if Volvo competed against the R32 segment.

Re: C30 Production shots leaked (VolvoMax)

>> Cuz its ugly and useless
It prevents the jerks of the world from breaking your heart by putting dents in the doors of your new car, you see. My neighbor has a New Beetle that's only a year old... it's a narrow body but nonetheless the jerks have already dinged it up good... no door guard trim
As for it being ugly... a good designer can make it look good. They have to find the right height and width etc. It might even improve the look on the C30 because the sides look too flat

It doesn't work.
An SUV can easily put a ding in your door.
Even the old 850's w/ that gawdaful grey strip across the door wasn't immune.
We just took one in, looked like it had been machine-gunned.

>> Ever heard of "baked hardening steel"?
Nope, but sounds great! Will a Volvo salesman let me try it out by opening my BMW's door into it? If it doesn't dent I'll buy the car

I was kidding, but actually it'd be an interesting thing for Volvo to do at car shows if they could demo with scrap sheets of it
Re: (C70drvr)

I really like the C30, but wish it had 2 more doors. But then again, I guess that's why they make the S40..........You know what would be cool on the C30? A third suicide door like Saturn had on their coupes. Anyway, is there any info on expected prices for the US version?

Re: (EuroFan)

Don't expect US pricing for a few months. The car won't arrive here until next July.
However, I have heard that the pricing won't be as bad as I have feared.
