Have the OEM 17" on the T5 right now, but they are worn to the bone. Have an opportunity to upgrade to nicer, wider, lower profile, but need feedback from the group. Everytime I talk to an "expert" they tell me to stay with OEM size, but I don't care for the 205's.
Please advise...brand, size...again, no spacers.

Re: Buying new shoes for '05 S40 T5...how wide with no spacers? (jazzman1)

I recall somebody reported wearing a 235 on Sagittas, there was a picture on that thread. Not sure now, but I think it wasn't rubbing too. I am thinking about widening to 235 when the time comes, but not sure if it's too much (bulging could be a problem, and I'm a bit worried that not wide enough rim will make steering less sharp)

I wouldnt really reccomend anything over 225's on the 7" rims, anything more will start to hurt performance IMO. My 225's rub a little when Im autoXing on the inside of the wheel well so Im not sure what 235's will do. (I have -1 deg camber in the front and a 1.5 in drop)

do 225 make big difference as compare to stock 205'ers? Grippyness? Firm enough handling?

235 would probably be too wide on Sagittas. The bulging would also be noticeable, and would make steering less responsive. I wouldn't put more than 225 on Sagittas myself.

I guess it wouldn't matter then if it we were speaking about Sculptor's either then...I have the optional rims...still 7x17 like Sagitta.
I think I'll be moving to 225.
Give me some info on brands...the Pilots lasted only 30k...mostly xway driving...plus, they didn't look or handle that well.
One guys mentioned BFG?

don't get the bfg's if you want them to last more than 25k. Mine lasted ~15k but that was because I have aggressive camber and took em on the track a few times. They are an amazing wet and dry tire if you are willing to sacrifice long life. there was a thread not long ago about tires so check it out. most all tires are available in 225 45 17

Very nice mods. I especially liked the carbon fiber trim around the dash. However, I think you may want to cover up your license plate number. Around Augusta, GA people have done reverse tag look-ups to get addresses where nice cars with $$$ systems are parked at night.
This is what I mean:
