I'm looking at an 04 S60R w/ about 60k miles.
Anything I should look out for?
Anybody on the forum have experience w/ an R at that mileage?
I know that it's out of warranty, but paying another $5-8k for one w/ a warranty seems a little much.

Although at approx 20k miles per year, it's probably mostly highway miles.

Aside from the normal used car items, I would be most concerned with the angle gear. I don't know what to tell you to look for as I think the unit can appear wet but just leaking through the vent and still be okay.

20,000 should be a fair price if you can get them down. Carfax.com for 25.00 (I think) and you will load the VIN# and get all you need for info that has been reported on the vehicle. Rick

I'll try to get the dealer to run the carfax for me, for free. I don't trust Carfax 100%, so I'd still want to take it to a Volvo tech.
Any boost line/valve issues? I know my 850R can develop vacuum leaks in 100000 different places... anything specific to check on the S60?

Actually when I carfaxed my 99 BMW it came up with every recorded service that was done by my dealer and the front end had an accident along with a multitude of other things. Maybe they have chaged? It worked great for me.

Carfax reports wrecks with police reports. Might not pick up a single car accident without a report. For example a driver tests Volvo safety with a concrete barrier.
Todd

The pickings are slim for my area, and I don't want to deal with a non-local car, shipping, etc...

Actually, that's not too much above the KBB value (has Atacama, Premium pkg, Climate pkg), but yeah, still seems awfully high to me.

Dropping $25-30k on a car I've never driven is to me.
