Well, I made this post to let know to anybody considering buying a custom fit windshield sunshade to avoid the TechShade from WeatherTech.
Now that summer is here, temperatures here in Houston are getting hotter, and my $8 generic sunshades are disintegrating and leaving silver flakes all over the dashboard on both of my cars. I started looking into those expensive custom fit winshield sunshades.
The reason why I considered these is because I don't like the idea of using the sunvisors to hold the sunshade in place. Especially if I have to do it on a daily basis, I'll end up wearing them unnecesarily or even worse, breaking them.
So after looking some reviews on youtube and confirming in WeatherTech's official website the sunshades for C30/S40/V50 and C70 ARE NOT the same model number. I bought one from them. If the quality and fitment was good, then I would buy another from them for my S40.
After spending ~$62 and one week later, the package arrived. The quality is very good, very sturdy material. It will hold itself flat just from the rear view mirror. However, to my dissapointment, the product didn't fit the windshield as advertised. It was meant for a taller and wider windshield.
After making sure I ordered the correct model number. I tested the C70 sunshade in the S40, and to my surprise, it did fit perfectly. Since I was going to order one for the S40, I saw no need to return this one, so I kept it.
But this doesn't end here. I ordered another TS0354 again, this time from their official website. And when it arrived. It was the same thing, Cut to fit S40/V50 windshield. This time I returned it and got refunded.
Now, I wonder if the TS0290 (for S40/V50) will fit the C70. If it does, they must have their templates mixed up. Because it doesn't make sense to use two different model numbers if they have the same shape.
Long story short: The WeatherTech TechShade TS0354 DOES NOT FIT our cars. I bought two and when they arrived they didn't fit as advertised. They were meant for S40/V50.
