Re: Bulb Failure Position light (Bender)

1. turn on engine<br>2. turn on headlight switch<br>3. walk to rear of car.... are all 4 rear lights on? (each side has 2 lamps)<br>4. once failed bulb is located... take off cover inside trunk wall and wiggle the bulb back into position (or replace bulb if burn out)

oh trust me, i have done that, multiple times, including brakes and signals and highs, nothing off... could be one of my reverse lights I guess.

Re: (Bender)

the position lights are the lights that illuminate the tag, there are 2 of them and they are above the tag. Also, they often work intermittently so they might both be on when you look to see which one is out and it probably isnt the actual bulb thats bad but something else. so if youre like me youll just have to get used to the stupid little message but if youre lucky maybe replacing the bulb will fix it.

this used to happen to me alot, I would periodically get that message then it would go off. I would be getting it and would even take out the reare part of the assembly just to make sure all bulbs were working and they would be. Recently however I got it and as luck would have it. One of the bulbs actually was out. I replaced it and it went away. I know as a fact it is one of 4 bulbs that stays on at all times. I believe it is the top ones on each side.

The msg goes away if the bulbs comes back (or the loose connection connects again).<p>If you're running a weaksauce 3rd party bulb that doesn't draw the proper current, you may still get the message. Use a genuine Volvo bulb, they're not expensive.

Slam the s60 into a brick wall, it will clear that message up and replace it with about 40 others

yes mine said that when none of the bulbs were out too. I remember reading on here quite some time ago that it was a software problem or something. Try running a search.

Re: (Heimpel)

I would go on the safe side and replace all 4 bulbs just in case. It may be that one of them is just not as bright as the others and is going to burn out soon. If that isn't the problem, you now have 4 extra bulbs that you can save for later use

Re: (S60 t5er)

This is a very old thread, but for the sake of the Search Feature, I thought I'd add that on my 2003 2.4t, this message was displayed when my reverse light was out.

Re: (LoveMyS60)

Just to bump an old thread that has helped me as well.<p>My previous owner swapped the two driver's side tail light bulbs with the wrong size. One eventually went out, and the message popped up. I replaced all four tail lights with Sylvania long-life. Can't remember if I got 5007LL or 7225LL.

don't forget to check the lights that are on the rear quarter panels. Not the tail light, but right in front of the tail lights on the side of the lens...
