Does anyone know the specifics of these tests that BSR did on the stock R. It looks like they had a stock R making 304hp and 338 lbft! I am not putting too much stock in the numbers yet, but I would love to know if there is a good explanation for this.
http://www.partsforvolvosonlin...=2350

Re: BSR testing (JOSBRO)

the only thing I can think of is that they put it on a four wheel dyno and then overestimated drivetrain loss to yeild a higher estimated bhp number. Yes, no?

Anyway, I don't know why they would fudge the stock numbers.

Could it be that they test their cars in freezing weather, which is supposedly good for turbos? In any case, they don't have any reason to overshoot the stock numbers, as this would make their product look less appealing.

Its pretty much accepted here at this forum that ALL ECU upgrades on the market, BSR included, give you 30 to 35 hp increase regardless of their claims. The some are honest about their numbers, IPD as an example.

There are a lot of folks in this forum that believe the R doesn't make 295 lbft of torque because they confuse torque with throttle response. Sure, they're related, but not one and the same, especially on a turboed car. Anyway, I always felt the car continued to build torque till about 3500 rpm even though volvo claims the climb levels off at 1950... This test shows 338 for torque at 3700 rpm! What's the deal?
