Re: BSR PPC remove limiter or not??? (2006S40T5)

I know from expirance that It will but ...if and only if you request this. (and perhaps demand afterwards) I dished out $2580 for a bsr stage 3 ppc, 3" dp and exhaust only to get still limited at 130 mph vs the 168 mph I was promised. pretty frustraiting since the autobahn is my playground. after a fews days of shooting e-mails back and forth, I was able to download the "version" I needed. I never got the 168 mph limiter ,I was originally promised, but I did hit 158 mph,(it felt like a limiter btw, but 158 mph is IMO fast enough for my station wagon) and from the feel of this perhaps 162 mph might be possible. my v50 t5 fwd 6-spd is a us model.

Re: BSR PPC remove limiter or not??? (V50_T5)

Dang, 130 is fast enough for me... I hit 135 once (stock wheels and w/o chip) racing an M3. Don't ask me how that was possible. I just remember looking down at the speedometer and thinking that was waaaaay too fast to be driving. BTW, I lost miserably to the M3, but I expected it. I was just playing around with my friend.
I have part of the Stage 3 kit installed (still haven't gotten the DP installed, thus preventing me from flashing the ECU). I'd like to have the power when I need it, but I can't see myself driving that fast on U.S. roads. It must be nice to have an autobahn.

I have stage 1 and it does indeed remove the limiter; I reached 140mph on a flat straight road.

It could be but I don't know , the US spec S40 T5s might not be limited to 130 mph like the us spec V50 T5s. my stage 3 hit 130 mph and stayed there down hill like I set the cruise control. wouldn't do 131-132 just stayed at 130. after I got the correct "version" I'm able to hit 158 mph (limiter) but you s40 people might not be limited.

well in my T5 without bsr the limiter was 130 mhp, after i installed the BSR stage I i pass it and hit 160 mph i bsr told me that the new limiter was 168. I just need to test the bsr stage III but is a little scare to drive that fast.

BSR told me the limiter was 168 as well(for V50 T5) but with a little disappointment I hit a limiter at 158. I can live with this , so I'm happy but 168 or trying to get there, would have been a tad more fun. I'm sure with the power I've got I could break 160 , too bad my bsr says stop at 158. btw, my pulse was going 155 plus at 155 plus. so I know how you feel. amazingly as it might sound but a little time at these speeds makes 130 mph seem relaxing.

are you sure about the 158? maybe you need more distance to get the 168.

Are you sure you weren't at the limit of drag? The car isn't exactly designed for those speeds, aerodynamically or otherwise.
Tom.

Re: BSR PPC remove limiter or not??? (tmtalpey)

I'm pretty sure I wasn't drag limited, I have a 6 km downgrade of autobahn not far away and have taken a few cars on this stretch just for kicks. My V50 , definately hits a limiter at 158 , while the drag limit might be not too much higher, I feel 165 on this strech of the autobahn would be possible. btw , I hit the same 158 on the opposite (upgrade ) section. IMO 158 is probably within 10 mph of the drag limit , would have enjoyed the 168 limiter (as promised ) a little more. but 158 is about as fast as a station wagon needs to be.
