Just wanted to share my experiences with my recent mod.
I have a V50 T5 Auto which I recently had OBD tuned with the BSR PPC - stage 1. Many other have done this as well - and here is my experience as reference.
I haven't had it dyno'ed and I don't really feel a need to either. All I know is that it now pulls like a freight train and I am extremely content. For the record it is supposed to have about 260 HP and more than 410 Nm. Plus minus.
I like that it is still torque limited in 1st/2nd to not tear the autobox apart. Besides, as everybody knows, too much power is difficult to put down on a FWD car at low speeds. Nonetheless I can certainly feel some extra power and especially more response in 1st/2nd compared to stock. The autobox feels just as smooth as before - in fact, it feels smoother than before. Does anyone know why shifting would feel even smoother than stock?
In 3rd/4th/5th it pulls like there is no tomorrow. No need for further modding for my needs or desires. The acceleration is very impressive from about 90 kph and up to more than 200 kph (125 mph). Haven't tried the top speed yet. Will need to find a good stretch in Germany during night time for this.
I am running everything stock... air filter, exhaust, spark plugs, etc. Only thing I am very fussed about is the engine oil. Using Castrol SLX Professional for Volvo Cars A5/B5. Very good experiences with this oil. I haven't even lowered the car and only running 205/50-17 on Sculptors and Styllas (depending on the season). So it looks like any other V50 (except the almost hidden exhaust tips). A true sleeper.
Now in the past, not many stock cars could keep up against even the stock 220HP/320Nm. But now my sleeper truly surprises many BMWs, Audis and MBs. Recently on the highway I have seriously left behind a E46 BMW 330i, and a MB S350 CDI. Although not the fastest cars around, both are quite capable on the highway.
Long story short. I feel like a kid again It is great to have a toy distracting me from the daily rat race.
I can definitely recommend this simple but very efficient mod

The Castrol SLX I'm using is 0W-30. Most suitable for Scandinavian weather. First time I heard of 5w-20 btw.

Hi V50_T5,
While your V50 can't exactly look stock with the mods you have done, you must still be surprising quite a few German cars?
P.S. Just noticed the 1.6D sticker mod

The BSR flash is great. I'm running stage 3 and I have also surprised quite a few Audi's and BMWs around here.
Voldsom Volvo, we should meet up sometime

no problem ... we all Swedespeed brothers and sisters here.
hey, there's also the new "Edrive" badge that can be placed after the 1.6D ... this specifies it as a better gas mileage 1.6D just a thought. I might do it.
Have fun with that 1.6D emblem.
