Within 3 days of each other BOTH rear power windows broke The glass is fine, but the cables that pull the windows up and down on the motor must have gotten off track and got completely mangled. Both need to be replaced... The motors are still good but I need to find a place (other than dealer) where I can find the assembly with the cables included.
Thanks.

Re: (Copeland)

Thanks! I'll look intoo salvage yards.
Are all the S80 models the same with a cable driven power rear windows? I'd like to look into replacing it with one that doesn't have cables...

See if you can remove the interior door panels and have a look before you condemn the very expensive window regulators. There are two (per window) blue plastic 'sliding blocks' that frequently break on the P2 Volvo's - with very similar symptoms to a regulator failing.
These two blue sliding blocks reside in the channel that is bonded to the bottom of each door glass.
John Sharisky

Modified by Parts @ Boston Volvo at 1:14 PM 8-1-2006

Modified by Parts @ Boston Volvo at 1:15 PM 8-1-2006

Modified by Parts @ Boston Volvo at 1:15 PM 8-1-2006

Re: (Parts @ Boston Volvo)

I have both of them disassembled and both are broken in different places. It seems like one just slipped off the lower pulley and the cable became a mangled mess within the motor. The other was a result of the broken clip you mentioned. The cable also got mangled in the motor. Both cables are shot... And the plastic clips are both broken. The motors are still good, but I need the assembly with the window track. I do not want to try and fish the cables back into place. I'd rather replace the whole unit and feel safer...

The fronts don't appear to use cables. I thought maybe other years could have switched...
