I posted here the other day about the weird tire vibration I was getting with my new S40. Took it to the dealer this morning and was told the driver hit something when they were bringing the car in from another dealership. They replaced the front axle boot but never told me about the problem when they sold it to me. Turns out they need to replace the entire front axle because they drove it 200 miles in from the other dealer with a dry axle. Nice how they forgot to mention this little incident to me before I bought the car.

Can't you ask for a major refund on the car or exchange it for another one?
I would think that witholding information like that it's illegal and grounds for lawsuit....what if you got into an accident because of that "little" unmentioned problem.
That's horrible service on their part....

The least they should do is extend your warranty by the milage currently on your car. Example: warranty period is 50K miles but you already have 10K on there so new warranty would extend till 60K miles.

This would at least be a kind gesture for their gross neglegance on the matter of not disclosing that information to you at the time of purchase. And/or maybe get a few goodies from the parts department as well
Just a thought and if it doesnt go well call up Volvo Customer Care and they will handle it cause they report to Volvo HQ and can get regional rep's involved if need be.
Should be a simple fix, had mine replaced when the dealer broke mine getting the tranny out, but you have them by the balls on this one so dont be afraid to give em a little twist if you have to

I've seen broken axle boots, and the shaft can last a long long long time, um the driver did more then tear the axle boot...

Re: Broken Front Axle (Oldman)

If it's bing fixed FOC then forget about any further action, it's not worth the hassle IMO.
What I would do though is ask for the full details of what actually happened to the car previously and what's been done, just so you can make a note if something els ethat may have been affected goes pop.
