Use the "Search" function, there are numerous Threads on this Topic. But to make it easy on you. Your break in period should consist of varying speeds and no high RPM (like redline) running for the 1st few thousand miles. After 2500 miles or so, I'd recommend changing the oil. <p>Late model cars don't need alot of time for break in but it can't hurt to baby it for the first few thousand miles. Make sure your engine is warmed up before going above 3k RPM or so, do the 2500 mile oil change to synthetic, otherwise drive it like you stole it <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/smile.gif" BORDER="0"> Engines are broken in at the factory these days anyway. The Volvo break in recommendation is supposedly to allow the drivetrain parts to break in together, it is NOT for breaking in the engine (so sayeth the Factory Delivery Center folks).
