I just replaced the front rotors and pads (all four corners) on my 850 R last weekend. Hardest part of the job was getting the old rotors off the hub (rusted to it!). I had to use a gear puller.
Anyway, I used stock Brembo rotors from IPD, and the PBR pads (not metallic). I cleaned everything well before assembly, and liberally applied silicon grease to the back of the pads and the piston faces. The system was flushed and fresh DOT4 added. Other than a few mild squeaks during the initial seating, they have been quiet and work flawlessly.
Total cost (including the pressure bleed kit..highly recommended) was $270, shipping included.
