Does anyone else have kind of soft feeling brakes in their S60?
I have an '01 S60 T5 and the brakes have always felt somewhat soft, with excessive pedal travel. I bought the car used.
I have switched fluid and powerbled the system, but it didn't help. Nothing is leaking fluid, so I am wondering if something is possibly wrong with the booster. Has anyone else had a similar issue?

Re: Brakes Soft? (Tim G)

Nope, thats just the way they are. Even changing to stainless brake lines does not get rid of the soft feel.

Ouch. That stinks.
Does an upgrade to the larger R calipers and rotors (on the front at least) help?

Re: Brakes Soft? (Tim G)

Recently I drove a 2006 S60 2.5T and I remember the brakes were so sensitive, if you put the weight of your foot on the pedal it was enough to bring the car to a screeching halt. (Slight exaggeration)
I have also driven a 2003 S60 T5 (144k miles) and the brakes felt much softer.
So maybe your rotors/pads need to be looked at?

Re: Brakes Soft? (ss60)

I put some work into my T5, just basic replacement of fluids, rotors and pads. I had to bleed the brakes quite a bit, but achieved a really nice firm feel. It really took a long time to get the peddle high and tight. I think it just takes a little work. If you're not doing the work yourself, it's a little bit harder as most mechanics will just do the job until everything is 'within spec.' I added ss lines about a week later, so I had to repeat a little of the process. The ss lines even firmed it up more!
