Brake Vibration

Hi folks,

I have a 2013 S80 with 85, 000 KMs on the clock.

Recently, when I apply brakes, I can feel vibration from the steering wheel but no noise. I suspect the brakes need some care, esp. that the rotors may not be smooth.

I jacked up the car tonight and did an inspection. The thickness of the pads is about 7mm and both pads look wear evenly. Both are about 7mm thick. There are some scratches that I consider normal.

I also measured the thickness of the new pads (Monroe brand) and the thickness is 12mm.

Well, I don't mind changing both the pads and rotors out but it seems they're OK.

Should I change them or not? I don't want to replace something that still has some useful life. Thanks!!

The typical recommended course of action is to replace both rotors and pads when the rotors are no longer within runout spec.

Perhaps lower control arm bushings are sloppy? Changing then recently in my C70 smoothed it right out.
