Sorry for what might be a newbie question, but thats what I am, so here goes nothing. Ive got a 1989 Volvo 240 dl, had it for 3 months or so, love it. However, after using the ebrake once (Im guessing this is the root of the problem, but it may not be, so feel free to disregard it) The car now squeals something awful when i try and move it... Forward or reverse and the sound sounds like its coming from the rear... Any ideas on the problem and or the solution? Any replies are helpful, including anyone who knows a good Volvo mechanic in the Toledo/Bowling green OHio region.
Thanks in advance.
michael

Re: Brake Problems (eustace)

I believe the ebrake uses a separate drum mechanism. If it's a new car for you, it's possible that the previous owner never used it and your ebrake needs servicing or replaced.

Re: Brake Problems (eustace)

I was told by someone who know's that the ebrake is hidden behind the rear rotors and that you must remove the rotors to check and adjust the ebrakes. I'm going to try and tackle that job myself in my 86 240DL real soon, I'll let you know if I was wrong.
