You don't need to split the caliper to remove the pads. There are two pins that hold the pads in.I'm replacing my pads as well. Anyone know what size tool is needed to take the calipers apart? Looks like a torx t-55 but I want to be sure before I go out and buy the tool.
Have not had Akebono on the S60R yet, but I had two sets on my (departed) 2001 V70T5M and a set on the 1998 V70. Nothng like them for brake dust and long life. As a brake engineer, I'd have them on any system I develop if they can meet the requirements of the vehicle.IPD now has front and rear sets of Akebono pads for the R. Have heard good things about them.
