no need to get all riled up. I'm almost decided that i want to "defile*" my car by doing this, for the sole purpose of the sound. I've decided against my initial choice of a really loud BOV, so i'm looking at more subtle options, like an adjustable, or one that does both recirc and VTA. I know Boosted and others have used them before, or at the very least have more knowledge than I, so onto the ?s:
I'm not sure if anyone can tell from the lack of information on the page, but would this blanking plate fit on the stock turbo to replace the CBV?
http://www.partsforvolvosonlin...=4505
and what are my options for installation?

*popular, but subjective opinion

i've tried searching on this question before, but it seems like most people are against it. i'm actually interested in putting one on as well, so any info/pics would be great.

Re: (VOLVO S70)

A BOV is a bad idea with the R's. Our cars need to HOLD the boost for the next gear to cut down on the "LAGG". If you install a BOV it will exhaust the HIGHLY NEEDED boost (thus the neat chirp) and then the turbo has to work very hard to RE-BOOST all of that air that was exhausted(causing lagg. Just my 2c's, Rick

If you want that lovely noise you can still get it with the stock re-circ. valve. You just need to get an intake system that doesn't enclose the filter in a plastic box. Also be sure that the intake pipe is metal and not plastic or silicone because it will cause it to be even louder when it is metal.
With that combo you'll have the stock recirc valve plenty loud.

More WOOOOSHING than chirping. I have this setup and LOVE the sound.

Most are against the sound, but I rather like it [being one of the youngest, if not _the_ youngest R owner]. Like i said, though, ive decided against a really loud one because i [sort of] agree that the sound shouldnt be in our car -- which is why im looking at one that you can switch, or one that does 50/50 vent and recirc.

Re: (Cicada)

I'd start off with an air intake kit. It's a good mod for the R anyway, and if that doesn't give you enough "blowoff" sound, you can explore other options, and you've lost nothing but a little turbo lag. I personnally love the whoosh I get now with the EST CAI, and I wouldn't really want it any louder, not to mention the throatiness that it adds under WOT... now if you are looking for the ricy-as-can-be squeel that sounds like the fourth of July, you'll need to go with an aftermarket BOV. If you do this, however, I 4C some resistance on any warranty work on the motor after that mod... dealers will definately not like it. Just my pair o' pennies!

Talk to frank and tell him WE sent you. He will take great care of you. Just go to eurosporttuning.com and you will find pics and info. I feel they have the best system available right now. I have been very happy with the WHOOSHING and the MINOR chirps I get. Not to mention a little less lagg of the start. Rick
