Please help! The boot(trunk) of my 2015 S60 Sedan isn’t opening. The boot unlock button on the key won’t work, the open button inside the car on the controls won’t work, the handle isn’t opening - it seems that it is an electrical issue. No other issue unlocking any other doors etc. I was hoping I could gain access to the boot via the rear seats folding down but the latch to fold them is INSIDE the boot! So it seems there is no way to access at all? Is this a design fault? Has anyone had this problem?

Did you lock your Glovebox? That'll put it in Valet mode and the trunk won't open.

The older models used the glove box lock for valet mode.
See if there is a button forward of the gearshift lever for trunkValet, It may have got pressed in.
Also go thru the MyCar button and look on the center LED screen for trunk/Valet mode being activated.
Fold down The rear seat center arm rest cup holder push on the vinyl piece. This will permit access to the trunk.
Use a flash light, long plyers or a bent streached out coat hanger to pull on the release pull tab.
The trunk harness goes along the trunk lid LH support arm.
The wire inside the harness may be broken due to opening/closing the deck lid a lot.
If a broken wire, the harness will need to be replaced, It can be repaired.

Thanks for your reply. I can’t find the valet option anywhere in MyCar or on the dash. And the centre fold down arm rest doesn’t have a vinyl piece - there is a large plastic cover that prevents any access to the boot. Is there any other way to fold the seats besides the latch inside the boot?

My 11 had a mechanical key operated lock on the underside of the rear of the trunk, to the left of the left hand license plate light covered up by a removable rubber disc… my 17 doesn’t have it… not sure when it was removed but might be worth looking

I recently had this same problem. I had to reach thru the pass-thru opening in the center of the rear seats to grab the glow-in-the-dark trunk release cable to open the lid.

In my case I could hear the solenoid working but the trunk would not open.

After getting the trunk open I removed the plastic latch mechanism cover that's on the trunk lid and used a dry silicon spray on the moving parts. Hasn't happened again since.

Great advice thank you. Ive managed to access the boot through the centre console by unclipping the plastic guard behind the fold down rest - and then pull the seat forward. I still can’t find where the release is inside the trunk (there is no glow in the dark cable) but I’ll take another look through the manual.

Had the same issue with my V60. I removed the trim, unplugged, and tested the lock, and checked the wiring in the back. Everything seemed ok. I was running out of ideas. As the last step, I pulled out the tailgate unlock fuse (fuse #11 under the glove compartment) I put it back as it looked good. After that everything went back to normal, I can open the liftgate now from the local switch, key fob, or inside the car. It has been only two days but so far so good.

What does it do on your car? Nothing happens when I push it on my car. I just assumed it was a button that only works on sedans.
It unlocks the tailgate without unlocking the doors, the same function as the trunk unlock button in the remote. It was not working until I replaced the fuse. I still need to press the button at the tailgate to open it.

I have auto-lock turned off, so I guess that's why I've never noticed it doing anything.
