The one night that I actually had a boost gauge hooked up, I was making 15psi solid all the way to redline....stock ECU.

I am guessing that you don't have an ECU upgrade or you are leaking some flow, but I would think if you were losing enough boost to cause that much of a pressure drop, you would be running extremely rich and throwing a CEL pretty quick.

Which ECU do you have?

Re: (phuz)

Yeah, its 16psi all the way through and very steady. It never was confirmed that i had an ECU upgrade. I was under the assumption that it had the Evolve/Powechips Ecu... This is a good thing and a bad... One, this whole time i thought my car was quick and it actually isnt
....the good news in now I can get a FMIC and bigger turbo, then get it tuned w the Ipd softloader. The one I initially wanted to begin with

Is there any way to definitively find out if it has an ECU upgrade??

You could ask the dealer if the ECU has been "revised"

Bump, just heard back from Don at Evolve and my car does have an ECU upgrade. He said that 16-17psi right in line w their ECU upgrade. He says that (i know this will start a debate) "Indeed, ipd and rica do push more boost, but all of our dyno testing shows that this is taking the turbo outside of it's operating range and not making any more power. We make more power with less boost"....

Re: (B.G.)

Mebbe he means on a stock setup (eg stock "dual"
IC's and such)? That's plausible IMO, that what he offers is the most you can push on a stock setup, as the other parts can't get rid of the additional heat, thereby the ecu retards everything to cool itself? But, then again, how is that "more" power then them with less boost?

I dunno...

That's what a bigger turbo does...not an ECU tune.
You can't make more power on lower boost ON THE SAME TURBO.

Evolve...I'm sorry, but you FAIL.

I am by no means a motor head, but all i can do is attempt to take his word for it, until i actually get on a dyno.... He attached dyno charts to show the difference
I will call BS on the lower boost = more HP and his silly dyno charts as well.
The only time I've seen lower boost = more HP is in a Supercharged situation where cylinder volumetric efficiency was increased by means of a modified exhaust, new heads and intake on my Mustang years ago. In that situation, the supercharger is belt driven and boost is limited by engine rpm (centrifugal charger) and pulley size. So boost is fixed. Modifying the engine mechanicals to "breathe" better will increase volumetric efficiency, ie cylinder filling. It makes it easier for the engine to breathe. The easier this engine breathed the lower my fixed boost level was but I gained HP
because it was able to breathe easier.

Basically an engine is an air pump. More air/fuel in, more power.

Your 16lbs of boost is in the range of stock specs. Actually its the MAX stock SPEC or 1.1BAR above atmospheric pressure.

I would stop dealing with a someone who claims you have a modded ECU but stock boost levels. If it was at one time "modded" it has more than likely been overwritten if any recalls involving software have been done at the dealer.

I can make pretty charts with Power Point too. Even in color!

Modded my ass, 16 lbs is stock and a modded ECU is good for ONE lb of boost?

I ran at a solid 21 with 3rd gear spikes to 23
in cooler weather.

In his case, no extra boost, as 1.1 bar is stock max as Oceans said.

I'm normally not one to pile on Evolve but that's really fishy.
