I am ashamed to admit that I have had my R now for a whole year and contributed almost nothing to the forums. Please forgive thee. First job out of college is to blame for me not having the time to participate. All that means is I have some catching up to do on reporting out on some of my projects I have done in the last year.

In my opinion, this is one of my more fun/rewarding projects I have done. I ordered some relatively inexpensive angel eye SMD LED boards from online and fitted them in the headlight housing. Total price of the project is only around $60. The angel eyes are all wired into the parking lights. I did this so the angel eyes are on 100% of the time. And yes, they actually are visible in the daylight. The fun comes at night because the intermediate ticker on the headlight switch is for parking lights only. This means at night I can actually drive with the angel eyes on and the headlights off. The result is alot of head turning. I have actually driven on pitch black roads with just the angel eyes and fog lights (which I aimed up a bit). Cops around here (IN) don't seem to mind that I am not using my headlights.

Below are the application photos. I originally had only white angel eyes but just recently I redid the project and added an inner blue angel eye. I also set up a set of relays and circuitry so I can choose between only blue, blue and white, or only white. Now obviously only blue will attract the po-po so that is for "offroad use only" ,however, the blue/white together doesn't seem to bother them. Gives a rather unique look too but I still prefer only white. I added the blues just so I have options in the future lol. I NEVER want to take the headlight housings apart again. No fun.

Where to buy:

80mm white angel eye

Diffuser lenses (very important for the full ring of light look instead of individual LEDs

Blue angel eyes (Both 60mm and 80mm to fit inside white) (DO NOT USE DIFFUSER LENS)

I've tried taking a distance shot before and the angel eyes blur. It's not a good representation of what they look like in person. Probably because I'm using my iPhone which isn't the best camera in the world. I can take a hood out shot tho.

I forgot to mention that my DRL's have been disconnected. I did that because the angel eyes look much better stand-alone with no light behind them. Basically, the angel eyes are my DRLs. I will take a day shot.

Try with dim light (more backlight light than black, but way less light than day) it should turn out pretty well, even with a phone cam. i.e. just after sunset

It actually looks pretty good. Normally I hate them on anything but a BMW that came with them.

Hmm, I actually kind of like how the rings integrate into the existing headlight bezel. Definitely more pictures and day shots are needed!

If these are wired into the parking lights, does that mean they blink when you turn on your blinker?

Interesting, and distinctive.

Be careful using them while driving. The local men in uniform might not like the blue and nail you for it. It is dangerously close to the blue lights on police cars, especialy when switching them on/off.

Angel Eyes belong on BMWs and on BMWs only.

I'm not a fan, sorry.

The aftermarket angels eyes always look chinsy. The previous owner had put them on my M and I didn't really like them. Tried to take them out once but they were apparently pretty integrated.

No, only because the parking light/turn signal is a single bulb with a dual filament. They are spliced into the filament that is not the blinker.

Sorry, man. I've never been a fan of the look other than on the cars it was OEM on. That said, it looks like you installed and integrated it quite nicely. Also, I'm the grammar police WEEEOOOOOWEEEEOOOOOOWEEEEEOOOOOOWEEEEEOOOOOO

I hear ya. Every forum seems to need a grammar police. I was skeptical about doing them because no one had yet and I also usually only like the look on BMWs. That being said, after the install I was really pleasantly surprised. I will try to get better photos because this is one of those things that does "look better in real life"

Waiting to see the video! I don't care for the blue, but the white looks like it could be really nice. Would like to see how it looks with the rest of the car in the frame, though.
