Re: BMW Shift Knob Installation, updated high resolution pictures (ricklee)

I know this is an archived post, but you never did answer what the shift knob was. I too like it and would want to know specifically what it is and if possible, where to purchase one. Also, how did you color red the numbers so neatly? Look forward to your reply.

I love the Red lettering/Numbering...PM me on how you did it and with what paint.
He won't answer, he's been gone from this site for a while...

Here's my suggestion: Steady hands and a very fine model building brush. Go to a local model / toy store, buy the right size brush and the color of paint you want in Testor's model paint. Proceed with a steady hand. If you screw up wipe up the excess with a little paint thinner immediately. That's how we paint detail on model railroad stuff, this is a piece of cake in comparison.

Yeah, he's not here anymore and I believe he sold his car.

The shift knob is an E90 (newest model 3 series BMW) and it's actually an automatic shift knob.

It looks really similar to the shift knob on my automatic R.
