Just completed the BT installation in my 2005 V70 2.5 here are some tips to make things easier for those of you considering this kit:
- Hardest part is making the head unit fit back in once the cables are connected. I found through much frustration that the best strategy is to push as much of the cables and connectors towards the area to the left of the radio, and then "hide" as much of the connectors and the little relay module towards where the steering column is (near the driver's right knee in LHD cars). Once I did this, the radio slid back flush with the dash on the second or thrid try.
- I also found that the under dash panel on the passenger side does not fit in to place if you put the BT control module right up against the firewall. I had to put mine towards the side, vertically near the passengers left foot area.
- I didn't have to totally remove the A pillar trim - and it seemed that I couldn't because of that fiddly safety strap at the top of it. Don't be afraid to peel back the weather stripping - it's easy to get back in to place.
- Follow the directions for disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. Disconnect in key position 0, reconnect in key position 2. Apparently the eccentricity of reconnecting in key position 2 prevents nasty errors from happening in the modules.
- Geartronic and automatic vehicles will still be able to move the shift lever to the D position for more room even if the battery is disconnected .
I ended up positioning the control panel just behind the shift lever. Might move it later on....
