Bluetooth kit: Takes ~ 2 minutes to power on

I noticed that when I startup the car in the morning or when leaving work (basically leaving the car off for an extended period of time), the bluetooth unit doesn't event power up for at least 2 minutes. When starting up the car after a 1 or 2 hour period, the unit powers up immediately.

Has anyone else observed this on their bluetooth kits?

Something is not right. It should have power the moment your key turns to start the engine...

When you say "power up" do you mean the system does not say "phone one connected" for 2 minutes, or the blue light does not come on at all (dim) for 2 minutes?

(The blue light will be dim at first when the key is turned on, and when the system connects with the phone, the blue light gets brighter. You prob know this, but I was just trying to clarify what you're asking)

Sometimes mine will say "phone one connected" in about 10 seconds, or sometimes it takes a few mins. No rhyme or reason to it. Never bothered me, but if it bothers you and its one of the "2 minute" times, just set a key on your phone to be a shortcut to the "bluetooth pairing mode", and connect that way (a bit quicker I guess)

I assume his question had to do with the blue light being on or off when the car is running. If it is on, indeed, but the pairing is not almost instant then it could be an issue with eithe rthe bluetooth kit's connector or a phone issue.

Re: (t6tim)

All you have to do is hit the blue button and say "connect phone one" or "Connect phone two" the system will say (already connected or it will connect that phone. Also you can hold the red end key to release the currently connected phone. This is useful if you have 2 or more paired phones in the car at the same time (ie, you and wife). Anyway no need to dig out the phone for a shortcut button, just tell it what you want

Re: (GrecianVolvo)

It's always day time that I've had this issue, so I can't tell if the light dimly on, but it doesn't look illuminated to me.

Here is what happens:

1. Turn car on
2. Radio is powered up but no audio coming through
3. ~ 2 minutes later, lights on BT unit come on. Radio is now audible.
4. ~ 10 seconds later Radio audio goes off again
5. BT unit and phone are now paired ("Phone 1 ready")
6. Radio comes back on

I am not 100% sure but it seems like your phone is not set to have it pair up with the system right away. My Blackberry used to be exactly that way. Some times it would pair up in 30 seconds and some times never. I had to do it manually. Until I found out (in its security Bluetooth settings) that the command "recognize Bluetooth" was not set on AUTO.

Once I did that, it pairs up the moment I turn the key to fire up the engine.

Bigger problem now

My Navi system is on the fritz, and I think it's because of the bluetooth adapter!

Yesterday evening, I turned the xc90 off with the Navi system on. When I started the car later, the Bluetooth adapter powered up immediately and paired with my phone within 20 seconds.

The Navi screen came up automatically as it was supposed to, and displayed the 'Volvo - System Loading' splash page. The screen then went blank for a second, and the splash page kept coming back up (followed by the blank screen), never making it to the selection screen for <Navigation>, <Settings>, <Shutdown>. The system kept looping through these steps and everytime the screen goes blank, the stereo audio goes off.

I finally got the Navi system to shut down, and took out the DVD, turned the car off several times hoping the problem would be fixed, but no such luck!

Now, even if I don't turn on the Navi system, the car audio goes on mute every 5-10 seconds...Any DYI suggestions to try and troubleshoot?

Any help is appreciated.
