Hello All,

I am new here. Just after Christmas, I bought a V50 1.6d. In general, I am very happy with the car, but I do have ONE complaint. My Bluetooth GPS doesn't work very well in this car. It takes a very long time to get a satelite lock, and when it does, it often loses the connection for few seconds.

I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem?

I was thinking of trying to install the GPS in a waterproof box in the engine compartment. Has anyone tried doing this?

Any comments would be appreciated.

MANY thanks in advance.

What? No!
These cars are like giant faraday cages. I also had GPS signal problems. You have to solutions.

One is to buy a high gain after market antenna.

Then place it on the rear shelf or somewhere it had max exposure to the sky. Or Mount it in the shark fin (that would be pretty cool)

Or you can try moving your gps around untill you find a spot that it likes. I was able to get a signal if I put mine by the mirror on the passenger side but 3-4 inches lower. It didnt work anywhere else, even an smig off and it would loose signal.

Re: Bluetooth GPS (zerocover)

Ahh, probably the one and only thing I like about the Volvo nav - its ready to go as soon as I crank up the car. And 99% of the time, I have a connection to 8 satellites...

All you need is an antenna attached to your GPS, and you'd be good to go.
