Does anyone know if Volvo offered the 3rd seat accessory for 200 series wagons in blue? I've never seen one on offer in blue, and I've been told by two people that it wasn't available in that colour, that people with blue interiors were supposed to make do with black.
I have the 3rd seat on my wish list, but if I get one, I'd really want it to match my interior.

Black only, all years.
New 3rd seat for 240 runs about $1,500 before ship.
Salvage can be had and recovered blue for under $200.
George Dill

was it black only stock or did they have other colors because i saw one at the junker (all crushed up after a severe rear end) that was tan, did the owner change that or is volvo hiding things?

Re: Blue 3rd Seat? (Camyman)

I've seen the butterscotch tan myself, just not blue. Weird that they wouldn't offer a matching seat; it's not like it was any big deal to use one colour vinyl instead of another. I think they were phasing out blue as an interior colour in the late 80's- maybe that has something to do with it.
Anyway, thanks. If black is correct, then black it is.

it is possible, however 50% of the time my interior is blue, and the other 50% of the time it is black. its just the way it is. well you could always buy some blue vinyl and a black seat and create-a-seat

Re: Blue 3rd Seat? (Camyman)

Nah, if blue wasn't a factory option, then I'm okay with black. I like strictly stock stuff (I know that's boring to a lot of people). Since getting my 245, I've put in a lot of time locating all the little stuff that's usually missing from these cars, like a full set of manuals, a complete tool kit, and OEM keys, including the valet key. The only departure from spec so far is an aftermarket stereo, since good CR-712's are hard to find, and not many places work on them. Also, a mounting plate for a CR-712 that doesn't have broken tabs is pretty hard to find. But a lot of late '80s Volvos had dealer-installed stereos (mine was delivered with a Kenwood unit, according to the former owner), so it seems like that's not too much of a departure.
The third seat is one of the few options my car doesn't have. It doesn't have power windows, and it didn't have the cargo cover or third seat, but it has everything else.
