Alright i understand the engineering and air flow principles to a blow off valve, but i've been told that they're good by some people, and not necessary on our cars by others.

If anybody out there really knows (I haven't been on IM recently) please let me know, i'm interested to hear why our cars don't need one. I have a feeling it has to do with our internal bypass valve, but i'm not sure AT ALL.

Also, so many other tuned cars out there get aftermarket intercoolers, i understand that philosophy as well, but is it just too much money for too little gain, or is the stock intercooler just fine, only re route the piping/???????

So...is the car going to run lean or rich at the end? I'm not sure about the Suck-In-Valve aspect of it, but...if that's the way it is...wouldn't you think it would blow off more air than sucking at that 'instance?'

Hehee...I guess I'll go talk with few more 700hp turbocharged cars owners before I make any more comment.

overall the car will run slightly on the rich side. As power goes up to the 700bhp limit then a BOV is better in that it gets rid of the excess boost faster but I don't know of any Volvo getting anywhere near that figure.
Each individual application has to be taken on its merrits and the recirc. valve on the Volvo is perfectly good and the only time I would consider replacing it is if it fails and I know Volvo UK do not sell this part seperately so a recon. Turbo would be required.
Incidently I love the sound BOV's make and this can be considered a reason for fitting one!

Further to the above it also depends on where the MAF is located in the intake system !!

This is just for Kai (who loves a good healthy discussion!)
It must also be remembered that everyone has different ideas on tuning and this is how we make progress- it would be boring if we were all the same !
