I really like the way this guy has given his jewel headlights a black bezel. I don't know how to do this myself, but I want to ask a local bodyshop to see if they can do it for me.<p><br><IMG SRC="http://www1.garaget.org/archive/1/760/801/801-554545.jpg" BORDER="0"><p>Does anyone know the steps to take to achieve this effect correctly so that I can guide the bodyshop?<p>Thanks.

Re: Black Bezel Jewel Lights (Token)

Headlight glass comes off just by removing the metal retaining clips. Remember JussiT-5R had a small right up written when he did this mod, IIRC he said it was pretty easy. Corners are the old black Hova style.

Re: (Token)

It would be very difficult since they are sealed plastic housings. The back reflector portion would have to be but out perfectly and then painted and reattached. I would suggest just hunting down the black Hova corners used. The newer style they offer would work, they just look a little different.

If you take of the lenses, you can remove the bezel that sits between the reflectors of the lights, that's what you need to paint mat black.<p>Some pictures:<p><IMG SRC="http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g47/volvo850turbo/P1300393.jpg" BORDER="0"><p><IMG SRC="http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g47/volvo850turbo/Nice1-1.jpg" BORDER="0"><p><IMG SRC="http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g47/volvo850turbo/Nice-1.jpg" BORDER="0"><p>Bezel removed:<p><IMG SRC="http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g47/volvo850turbo/P1140325.jpg" BORDER="0"><p>Bezel you need to paint:<p><IMG SRC="http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g47/volvo850turbo/P1140327.jpg" BORDER="0"><p><IMG SRC="http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g47/volvo850turbo/P1140330.jpg" BORDER="0">

Re: (BenES)

Would this work on the older style headlamps, or just jewels?

Re: (Logan2224)

Part that is painted on the jewel lights is not on the older style light. Add the fact the glass is not very clear so you would not be able to see anything painted behind it very well.

Re: (MKC70)

Another note in case is has not been mentioned: Do NOT touch the inside of the glass lens when you have the headlight open. The lens has a special coating to manage the reflection of light back into the headlight reflector. Oil from your hands or other dirt could damage the film.<p>Also dont touch the reflector. Fingerprints look bad and removing them from the silver is nearly impossible as it is very soft and fragile.
