Hey all. Terry **** Of Volvo Motorsports stole $3200.00 from me. Here's the story:
On May 22, 2008 I made a $1600.00 payment on Paypal to Volvo Motorsports towards an custom engine block with, crankshaft, rods and pistons. At this time I shipped them my old engine block with crankshaft to avoid a core charge. Volvo Motorsports said that they would request another $1600.00 in about six weeks when the parts were ready to be shipped to me. I received a request on July 7th, 2008 for the final payment of $1600.00 on Paypal. I made the payment to Volvo Motorsports and I didn't even receive any parts till March 12th 2009. Terry **** of Volvo Motorsports made various excuses to me over the phone why he hadn't sent me the parts I paid for until this time. First he said he was in the hospital from being poisoned. After that he said that he had received the wrong parts from his manufacturers. And still after that he said he was in a custody fight with his Ex wife over his children. Finally on October 17th, 2008 I received a tracking number via UPS from Volvo Motorsports that was suppose to be my parts. However, according to UPS tracking number: 1Z707YX30394627227 he billed the shipping for my parts, but NEVER DROPPED THEM OFF TO UPS TO BE SHIPPED. On January 26th, 2009 he then voided the billing information on this tracking number instead of sending out the parts. I have not been able to reach anyone by phone at Volvo Motorsports since October of 2008. I finally heard from Terry **** of Volvo Motorsports in late January of 2009 through email confirming my address for shipment of my parts, but again, no shipment was made. I notified the Better Business Bureau and filed a complaint on February 11th 2009. By February 27th he had ignored the first notice from the BBB. By March 9th he had ignored the second notice from the BBB. Finally on March 11th he notified the BBB that the parts had shipped and that I would receive them March 12th.
The situation as it stands is that yes, I have received the short engine block with the parts installed. Terry **** packaged the engine block incorrectly and it showed damage from shipping. Not trusting this jerk at all at this point, I took the block to a machine shop so that they could tear it down and verify that I had the parts that I paid for and to look for other damage. As it turns out Volvo Motorsports has shipped me NOTHING that I paid for. The pistons are stock that have been polished to look like they were forged. The rods are cheap knock of rods from china that are also not forged. The crankshaft has visable signs of being a used part and has been painted to look aftermarket. There's vertical grooves in the cylinder walls of the engine block and the block itself will have to be rebored. And because of this I'll need different size pistons. The oil pump was even installed incorrectly.
I was suppose to get forged racing pistons, rods and crankshaft. These items were suppose to be installed in a remanufactured engine block with oil pump. I was even suppose to get a head gasket kit. I got none of these items. Terry **** purposely put the block together and disguised the parts so that unless I had the block torn down and inspected, I would have never know until the engine failed that he had screwed me. I'm currently working with the BBB to get ALL my money refunded. If the BBB is unable to help me, I will be suing Terry **** and Volvo Motorsports. And you can bet that I'll be suing him for a lot more money than if he just refunded my $3200.00.
I suggest that any of you thinking of doing business with this company to think twice. The owner Terry **** is a liar and a thief.
If any of you have specific questions or have anything you'd like to add, please PM me.

-Luke

Re: BEWARE OF DOING BUSINESS WITH VOLVO MOTORSPORTS (JRL)

Sorry about that being my first post, but I'm making sure the word gets out on these guys. The V40 in question is one of IPDs project cars. I love the car and am not really interested in getting one of the bigger 5 cylinder model Volvos.

Hey all. I have an update on my dispute with VMS.
So, Terry refused to settle through the BBB and now has his first black mark on his BBB record. I noticed four other claims pending against him and three of them were dropped because YOU GUYS DIDN'T FOLLOW THROUGH. Come on people. For those of you who didn't follow up on your claim, I STRONGLY suggest that you reopen the dispute and stick it to VMS. My unresolved claim dropped his rating from an A to a B. If THREE of you stick to your guns it'll reduce his rating to an F and completely destroy his BBB record. If any of you have specific questions about how to continue your claim through the BBB, please PM me.
Terry contacted me after the BBB declared the dispute unresolved and wanted to settle the claim privately. We agreed on a solution and he was suppose to send me half the money before I returned half his parts. After he received the first parts, he was going to refund me the rest of the money and I'd return the rest. Well, big surprise everyone. He dropped the ball on this too. I never received the first half of the money. I'm glad I never sent him any of the parts. So I emailed him and he said he'd take care of it ASAP but he was getting married the next week. So, he's back to I'm dumb excuses. All it takes is two minutes to sit down at your computer and make a payment through Paypal. Its been another couple weeks and I have received no money or heard from him at all. I think he was hoping I'd tell the BBB the case was resolved before I actually got any money from him. Fat chance.
I'm back on track to fly out to Indiana and sue him for the full $3200.00 plus expenses. I'll sweep the floor with him in small claims court. I should have all the paper work together and filed before the end of the summer. I'd like to hear from any of you the have been screwed by VMS. If I could get contact information from you and a brief description of what happened I'd appreciate it. Just PM me. I'm sure the judge will be interested in who else he's monkeyed over.
-Luke

I had a similar issue with him last year, ordered a bunch of brake parts from him and never got anything for a couple of months. I did the BBB thing and filed a complaint against him. I kept calling him everyday and emailing him, and I also got the excuses (his kid was in the hospital dealing with cancer). After several months in total, I got a full refund of my money. The Paypal thing was a charlie foxtrot because you have to file a claim within like 30 days. Well, if you're ordering some special parts or something that takes more than 30 days, you're screwed through Paypal. So then my bank was fighting with Paypal because I filed a false payment claim with my bank who promptly refunded my money. It was a whole disaster, my bank refunded me the money, but then Paypal wanted the money becuase the bank took it from Paypal. Whatever, I got my money back from VMS.
I can't believe this idiot still has a website and is trying to sell stuff. I hope the judge puts this guy out of business.

Re: BEWARE OF DOING BUSINESS WITH VOLVO MOTORSPORTS (leroystew07)

It would be nice to get this guy out of business, but the judge won't be able to do that. If a whole bunch of us were able to get together and file a big class action lawsuit then maybe. As it is, the only way we could pressure this guy out of business now, is for all of us who have gotten screwed by him is to all file our own small claim lawsuits and repeatedly pummel him. But that requires all of us to fly out to Indiana at least twice, once to file the lawsuit and the second time to attend the trial. A lot of us just can't afford to do that. But this of course is what he's been counting on. The fact that he owes me $3200.00 makes it worth it to me to do the traveling and spending the time.
-Luke
