Have been researching rear seat protectors as we have 2 dogs and leather seats.

I have found a "custom" one (made to order for specific cars) which I assume would be a good fit, but it is expensive. Anyone found a stock seat cover that is a good fit for the XC60 back seat? I also want something washable as the dogs seem to roll in all the really smelly stuff when we go out for hikes.

Thanks!

Volvo does make one for the XC60. I don't know how that compares with a custom one, but it is made for the vehicle. I'll be curious with what you find. We have three dogs - two Labs and a 43 pound muttigree. We don't want them in the new car any time soon, but if we must.... we did get the cargo liner and may get one of the nets or something to keep them back in that area.

The Volvo one isn't washable. I looked at it a couple of weeks ago. It says you can wipe clean. Wiping won't get out the smell of what they roll in. Washable is a nonnegotiable. :)

The one I found is by Canine covers. They offer a custom cover where you plug in the make and model of your car and they sew it to those specs. But it is $350. This board is my last hope. Otherwise I am going to suck it up and get it. I was just hoping not to have to.

seat covers

Check with some of the dog catalogs that are out there, such as Fosters and Smith or Orvis. We have a canvas cover that loops over the back seat head rests and also over the fronts (sort of a hammock set up) and does work very well. It is washable and very durable. It is 3 or 4 years old and I don't recall spending over $100 for it.

That is actually the cover I'd found but didn't want to pay $350 for. I ordered one from Orvis (thanks Comp1) today and we'll see how it fits. 100% guarantee so if it doesn't work out I'll be ordering that one.

thanks for the link.

Good luck. But WOW that custom thing looked fantastic!! May be worth the $$ to preserve the seats. I have not looked at Orvis, but have looked at a bunch of dog catalogs and on line over the years. Problem with some of the ones as described by Comp1 don't work as well for big dogs but could work wonderfully for Scotties or other medium to small breeds. Large dogs (unless put in the Roadie seatbelts) tend to move around and scrunch up looser seat covers. Can't remember what kind of dogs you have (on other page) or if you even said in initial post

Well, Orvis was the winner coming in at $125. Thanks comp1! I got the BackSeat protector with the photo of the German short hair pointer on it. Size XL

Pros: Very decent fit, nice and plush. Has handles on the back side that you push in between the seat and back that keep it from sliding forward. Straps with clips in the right place for the head rests, no velcro to put away. Long so it goes to the floor.

Only drawbacks are a little extra fabric here and there, and that we use the seat belts with a harness and using the belts bends the bottom of the cover in a little bit because of where the base of the seat belt is.

Other than that, we are satisfied. I give it an 8.5.

Glad to see that it worked for you. You'll know after the first road trip whether or not it is a keeper. Orvis is great in that they will return anything for which you are not 100% satisfied.
