Re: Best place to purchase OE parts online (Crito)
Parts.com is an internet front for a broker representing dealers and parts vendors across the US. When you order something, the dealer/vendor that has the parts and is closest to you will ship it.
Your service is only as good as the entity that is actually fulfilling the order. And, if you have a problem with the order, you will have to reconcile it with the particular dealer/vendor, not parts.com.
Here is an example.
I would be more comfortable dealing with a known entity. There are several dealers and vendors that will ship to you and have good reputations on swedespeed for service and good value:
Boston Volvo (ask for John)
Brentwood Volvo
Darrell Waltrip Volvo
IPD
FCP Groton (avoid scantech parts)
I'm sure they're more (as diligent swedespeeders will be quick to point out)--heck, even some of them may be parts.com players--but, wouldn't you rather deal direct? Do you really want to do business with a company that won't give you its address or tel #?
If you need any help determining exactly which part you need for your Volvo (like that never happens...), you'll be sol with parts.com. And, good luck if you get the wrong thing.
I am lucky that Boston Volvo is very close to me and they are great.I have had them ship parts to me and if you have a question they are more than wiling to give any help needed.I have also ordered from IPD another great experience.
