I often contribute to other people's threads but don't discuss my plans too much. I figured I would start this thread to correct that!
First a bit of Volvo history:
In 1995 Volvo released the 850 T5-R. This is a one year, 240 horsepower model. It would continue on as the 850 R, but the T5 portion of the name and some badging, were dropped.
The T5 moniker disappeared from the US until 1997, when the 850 turbo, was renamed for its last model year.
This established the current naming protocol of the T5 and the R.
So this is the inspiration; a rare and unique Volvo with a bit of racing DNA.
What it is not:

I am not attempting to turn my car into a "Front Wheel Drive R." I love the T5, its a bit quirky, and different. The R is awesome but I love what I have and am not going to pretend it is something different. It MAY get an R body kit, or T5-R badging, but it will never get fake R badges.
It will not be a track only car. This is (at least until next summer) my daily driver.

What it is:
First and foremost I want it to be interesting! Interesting to drive, interesting to look at at a meet, interesting to look at for a non-car person.
It wont be the fastest, it wont handle the best, and it may not be the prettiest, but it will look good, drive well, and be different.

Where I am at:
Car was purchased in 2007 with approximately 60k miles.
Before I had purchased it, it had:
Been lowered with H&R springs
EuroSport Tuning Intake
Evolve Exhaust
Samco (Evolve) hoses.
I did nothing for some time other than a few sets of rims and routine maintenance. Once I bought my house it allowed me to start doing things again so...
Recently, the following has been done:
Blistein HD Sports on all four corners
XC90 Spring Seats
This week the following are occurring:
New clutch (due to failed slave cylinder)
Rica Stage one (received, car read, waiting on tune)
IPD HD TCV (received, installed once car back from getting clutch)
I have some plans for the future, and pictures on the way, but that will be the next update.

Awesome! I'll definitely subscribed, I've always liked your car, and you've been a great guy on the forum.
With threads like this popping up, I may have to do one myself!

Bender, Sounds good but you have a way to go to catch up to all of the stupid crap I have done to my 2001 t5m

Bought new way back in March 2001, did nothing until ~65K miles then:
TME cat back (via IPD)
IPD Sways
KW Coilovers (XC 90 spring seats at the same time)
EST Downpipe
IPD stage 2 software
Spec stage 2+ clutch
"R" brakes (front & Rear)
SS brake lines
Simota CAI
18" ASA wheels
10mm spacers (needed to fit wheels over "R" brakes)
VST (?) strut brace
QMB strut brace conversion kit
Evolve upper mount (the black one)
QBM tranny mount
CBV upgrade kit
I am pretty sure I am done, but an FMIC is a possibility & I should have went with a LSD when my clutch was done, but too late for that now
I clearly have spent waaaaay too much money on this car, but have to admit it is fun to drive
Good luck with your build

I like your idea. I have a similar idea for my 05 T5. I just want to make mine fast, handle well, and be able to stop on a dime.

Today the car comes back from getting its new clutch. It was in great condition but the slave cylinder went so it had to be replaced.
Late tonight or first thing tomorrow morning the car will get its tune!
Pictures will be forthcoming.
One nice thing, is that for the past few months I have been saving a little money for something other than my car... welllll... a ring I was having made for the girlfriend was done, is paid for, and she was proposed to! So now I am engaged and have a lot of car poop to do before the wedding and she starts paying too much attention to it!
