I searched and found plenty of info on radar detectors, but not this particular one.
Does anyone have this version? Is it worth the cash ($415)? Is this the newest and greatest from bel? I know this technology changes yearly and it gets expensive to have better technology than the police.
I was considering getting the beltronics 980. The 980 is an older model, but has gotten great reviews and costs 75% less. I've actually been using the 980 for the past week and seems to work well, but I haven't passed a cop doing radar lately.
FYI, i don't plan on spending $1000.00 plus, so there is no point in discussing laser blockers, etc.... Tying to keep the cost down and add a little more protection than my two eyes. Eyes work well, until the sun goes down.
Re: Beltronics STI driver (jpbb03)

Probably not worth it, why not just get a passport X50. It will pick-up the radar well ahead of time and laser.. well you're screwed with any of them.

I personally use a valentine 1 and had very good luck using it. Being that you are in CT, like myself, you are hosed either way do to the troopers using laser on the highways. Mine will only pick up the signal once they gun you, by that time you are done for.

KMG,
if you don't mind me asking, where did you get the GX from and how much did it set you back? After doing some research and doing my taxes, I might join you as a GX65 owner.

I have the 8500 X50 myself and love it. I checked the prices on the Beltronics as well when I read the reviews, and chose the Escort. Hasn't let me down yet. BUt with any laser, you're tanked once they tag you.
Check Amazon for pricing. I got a really good deal on the brand new X50 from there.

I run with a Valentine One but with all the laser and instant-on radar these days, it's best thought of as an "Oh, s**t, not another one!" device. If I was really worried about tickets, I'd just go back to using a CB radio along with the V1.

$469.95 on Amazon right now... I think that is exactly what I paid for it... I love Amazon.com... It is like an online verion of Walmart... Only better It is quite impressive, and you won't be disappointed in its performance.

Amazon is great, but not always the best.
http://www.mobiletronicsusa.co...=GX65
$366.95
It only took me two seconds to find that site, but I doubt I'll beat that price. I'll put that $100 that I'll save to my next speeding ticket.

Re: (jpbb03)

I have the STI driver I have had it for about 2.5 years since it came out it works great and it being undetectable is a must in VA.I have not regretted buying it even once I think I paid $400 I ordered mine directly from Bell.I have also used this quite a bit in a commercial vehicle which is a no no in any state FWIW.
