So ive got an 04 SRGT, 43k, CPO through Jan 2010. No major repairs/breaks. I owe like 8k on my loan.
Im considering (if i can find one i like) trying to do a trade-in or private sale my R/dealer purchase new-to-me R.
I like my auto trans for all the city driving I do (almost exclusively) and im averaging 16.8mpg however I want to seriously start looking at aftermarket upgrades, DP, exhaust, chip, but I am having a hard time reconciling in my mind the fact that modding out a GT is kinda weak...
Anyone have any advice/thoughts? Im thinking if i were to do it, going for a 04/05 non-nordkrap, black saph or sonic.
Or, do i just wait till my warranty is bunk and tweak the hell out of it.

It's more about your preference. I'd be extremely bored in a GT personally but seems like 5spd GT can handle the abuse.

lol, I drove from Newport to SD the other day and got 30 mpg (granted it is highway, but I was rather impressed) averaged 70 mph too, not too shabby.
BTW, Top Gear's worst MPG ever was from the EVO at less than 5 MPG around their track I think (it may have been lower).

10 minute commute? Heck, I wouldn't even drive...lol (except in winter, as I'm sure yours are worse than ours). Save your pennies for mods.

Swap your R, for another R? You're a sadist, my friend
In general, I wouldnt mind having a nicer R than my own. However, if the financial guards turned their backs for a second, I'd bolt to a German. If you do get another, will you have a bunch of stuff you could swap over immediately?

Re: Re: (JoeLvo)

You guys get some terrible mileages... I commute about 8 miles each way in purely city traffic and I manage 21. Chalk it up to the GT i guess?
Edit: that is WHEN i drive, which is usually only in rain.
