I have an '02 blk on blk s80 but recently have been really enjoying the v70 r as well as the s60 r. I live in l.a. and have been noticing that purchasing a used one with reasonable milage (under 50k). S60 r's are a bit easier too find than the elusive v70 r. As i find out how little i can do to my particular year and model of s80 (like put standard fog lamps in without having a special switch installed that comes with an insane upload cost; see 'fog lamp' thread in the s80 forum and the fact i am a musician and loading an amp into a sedan isnt the easiest thing to do without scratching both the beautiful paint or the vintage tolex. neither have happened yet, knock on wood... anyway, do they make less of these wagons or is that once people buy an v70 r they just don't want to give them up? Heck id take a clean s60 r and just leave my amp in the trailer or the studio if i could find a good one!
I must sound like a giant noobasarus so i am going to go now... anyway, thanks for reading....

Start with Volvo's CPO listings http://new.volvocars.com/cpois/ and try autotrader and carfax. R's are usually well taken care of and if you can touch base with a Volvo dealer or shop near where a car is being sold, and you can have the seller get an assessment of it, I'd say go for it.
Also, there is also dealership representation on here and it may be possible to reach out to them to see if they come across anything.
Finally, if you locate one in an area near a fellow poster, I'm sure there are kind souls on here that would go check it out for you.
Good luck!

As Lee mentioned, do your homework and be patient.....and check out the Classified section on this board as well.

I searched 4-6 months before finding a wagon that had the options, price and colors I liked.
BTW, who's Lee?

"I'd think you'd sound like less of a noobasarus if you separated out your question into distinct sentences." OUCH! Point taken. It was a long day when the o.p. was made and i apologize if my writing style, or lack of, confused you. I will have my mom proof read this one before i hit 'Post' .
Thanks so much for the replies you two. Patience IS the key for sure. I test drove a couple certified Audi a6 Avants as well as my friend's newly acquired 540iT with the M package. Both are great wagons but the 540it not only looks beautiful but the ride was amazing too. My buddy had said besides the 18" B.B.S. rims he just put on, he has only just begun tuning it. I don't know much about cars but he has been into them since we were very young and owns an m3 as well. The only cars i have really ever driven and owned were 2 different Saab 900s and an Acura Legend
Anyway, I still want my v70r and hopefully i will find one that fits my criteria and maybe get a decent trade-in price for my S80 as well. A lot of hoping going on around here. My s80 drama continues with the fog lamp situation, and is bumming me out in a big way. You both mentioned homework in your posts and i thought i did well with my s80 investigating as far as knowing about the different problems the previous years had with electronics and other parts. 02 seemed like they had almost everything worked out but who would have known that my year, 02, is the ONLY year you need to purchase an extra switch to get them working? Heck, even the guy from Volvo i was buying them from didn't know and 'had never heard of that being the case'.
Is this post long enough you guys? Lee... I mean decaf; I chose to write in the style of JD Salinger and hope you enjoyed every single word.
Thanks again for your posts, I will keep you up to date if i find anything.
