I was wondering if anyone can direct me to a good shop that has had experience changing springs/shocks and wheels for the new 05-06 Volvo S40's? I live in the Bay Area area code (510). Right now, I'm quoted at $400 to change my car's springs and about another $100 to fit/rotate/align/etc new wheels/tires at a Volvo dealership. However, I would like to know if there are any other good car shops that might offer better prices without compromising the quality of the work. Thanks.

Re: Bay Area Shops (smartytai)

I have no insight into Volvo specific places (in fact one place in the Bay area said the decidedly DON'T do Volvos or BMWs because those cars are so finely tuned already). I have used Custom Alignment in Mountain View before. They are honest, trustworthy, reasonable, reasonably priced, and best of all good at what they do. Not sure if they do springs and shocks, but they certainly do alignment, wheels, etc. I suspect they DO do springs and shocks too.
http://www.customalignment.com/
Not sure if this helps. For my part, if I were to put new springs/shocks onto my V50, I would probably try this place first (unless it was a dealer approved thing).
Aaron
