Alrighty folks, so I've been wracking my thinkin noggin to try and figure out another GTG after we had such success with the turn out for my HMB GTG. I am trying to think of events in which we not only get to look at, drive, and talk about our beloved volvos but also get to have some sort of interactive event. I know the first thought is a track day, but for a lot of people those are just to pricey for a one day event. However, I think I may have thought up something a little retro for us to do, and this time, you'll be encouraged to bring the wife or the girlfriend!
So, we happen to live close to one of the remaining Drive-In Theaters, Capital Drive-In, in San Jose. Its about a 45min drive from HMB, slightly shorter or longer for some of you, and its pretty much a straight shot down either 280 or 101.
What I am thinking is we maybe meet up around 280 and caravan down to the Drive-in. Like I said, I'm encouraging you to bring your wife or your Girlfriend on this one, as they support our expensive hobby and on so many occasions are either dragged along to a normal GTG or are stuck at home doing nothing.
The deal would be as follows on the movie. I'm thinking sometime mid to late June as that will have been two months since the Davis meet and two months till the Carlsen Car Show. If yall like this idea, I'll compile a list of the movies that are coming out around the decided date of the GTG and we can vote on the movie that we would like to see.
Lastly, this is a fairly cheap way to spend the day as well, as movie tickets are only $6 a person! Granted I know the quality isn't going to be the best in the world, but this is majorly for the novelty sake. Clean your car up, grab your best gal, meet up with your fellow car guys at the drive-In and enjoy the evening, what could be better?
Anyways, let me know what yall think of the idea, and if I get enough people who would be down, I'll start getting the particulars together
